Stig Åvall Severinsen is the creator of breatheology. Since his birth in 1973, he has loved water, sports and nature. He has won 4 freediving World Championships and set several freediving World Records.

In Spring 2010 he set two new Guinness World Records - swimming 72 meters under ice (in speedos!) and holding his breath for 20 minutes 10 seconds in a tropical shark tank after inhaling pure oxygen.

He improved this last record in 2012, where he held his breath for 22 minutes on the show "Superhuman Showdown" (Discovery Channel) and was crowned "The Ultimate Superhuman". The 22-minute dive is also a new official and ratified Guinness World Record.

With a Master Degree in Biology and a PhD in Medicine he has a profound interest in natural and health science. Author of the bestselling book (breatheology - more info HERE) which has been translated into multiple languages.

Stigs aim with breatheology is to create a common ground for people interested in learning more about the benefits of breathing and breath holding. Whether in everyday life, sports, prevention of sickness, episodes of stress or rehabilitation.
